Other Feedback (from students, alumni, etc.)

In our experience (perhaps also in that of most other programs), the most useful feedback often comes not from formal instruments such as exit surveys, but from interested students and alumni making specific observations or recommendations concerning specific courses or groups of courses. Some examples of such feedback are:

• Feedback from a recruiter and a couple of alums

• Feedback concerning students' preparation in practical languages
• Feedback concerning overlap between Math 566 and CIS 680

• Ad-hoc feedback (on a range of items) from some CSE majors
• Feedback on student satisfaction with the Advising Office

• Feedback from co-op students (Marathon Ashland Petroleum) (Au '03)
• Feedback on importance of co-op/internships (Sp '03)
• Student report on an internship (Sp '03)
  [Students who are doing an internship often register for CIS 489 (to maintain their status as "active students"). In this case, they are required to submit a report upon completion of their internship. This particular report is an example of how much students can get out of both the internship and the task of writing such a report. This report is of an exceptionally high quality and shows our students' potential and abilities.]
