Biography

Ping Zhang is an Assistant Professor at The Ohio State University, with joint appointments in the Department of Biomedical Informatics, and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Prior to Ohio State, he was a researcher at IBM T.J. Watson Research Center. His research focuses on machine learning, data mining, and their applications to biomedical informatics and computational medicine.

Dr. Zhang has published over 40 papers and filed over 25 patents. He has received IBM master inventor award in 2018, ESWC best in-use/industrial paper award in 2016, and AMIA Marco Ramoni distinguished paper nomination in 2014. He received BS and MS in Computer Science from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2004 and 2007, and PhD in Computer Science from Temple University in 2012.

Dr. Zhang has served on the program committees of leading international conferences, including KDD, IJCAI, UAI and AMIA, and on the editorial boards of BMC Medical Informatics and Decision Making, CPT: Pharmacometrics & Systems Pharmacology and Journal of Healthcare Informatics Research. He is an ACM distinguished speaker and an IEEE Senior Member.
