Steps to help prevent fraud
  • call 1-888-5OPT-OUT to request that no pre-approved credit offers be sent to you. This covers all three credit bureaus. Or do the following:
  • Send letter, return receipt requested, to credit bureaus requesting them to contact you before any new credit accounts can be opened in your name. Also request a copy of your credit record (all three bureaus charge $8 for credit reports in Ohio). See sample letter .
  • Get off of promotional lists by sending a letter, return receipt requested, to
