NSF Computing Research Infrastructure Award

Members of the High-End Computing Systems Group (HECSG) Laboratory and collaborators from the Biomedical Informatics Department and the Ohio Supercomputer Center received a substanstial Computing Research Infrastructure award from the National Science Foundation, the Ohio Board of Regents and OSU. Entitled High-End Computing and Networking Research Testbed for Next Generation Data Driven, Interactive Applications the award totals $3,014,063, with 1,529,997 originating from NSF.

This highly sought funding is part of the theComputer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) Computing Research Infrastructure program which "supports the acquisition, development, enhancement, and operation of research infrastructure that enables discovery, learning, and innovation in all computing fields supported by CISE."

The objectives of the research group are as follows:

* Proposing new designs for high performance network-based computing systems by taking advantages of modern networking technologies and computing systems
* Developing better middleware, API, and programming environments so that modern network-based computing applications can be developed and implemented in a scalable and high performance manner
* Performing the above research in an integrated manner (by taking systems, networking, and applications into account)
* Focusing on experimental computer science research

The team members are:

PI - D. K. Panda (CSE Faculty)

CoPI's - Gagan Agrawal (CSE Faculty), P. Sadayappan (CSE Faculty), Joel Saltz (CSE Faculty and BMI Chairperson), and H.-W. Shen (CSE Faculty).
