NSF Foundations of Computing Processes & Artifacts Award

Professor Gagan Agrawal has received a grant from the National Science Foundation for his research project entitled "ST-CRTS: Enabling Processing of Large-Scale Scientific Data through Compiler Supported XML Abstractations." This three-year project will use the notion of XML data virtualization to enhance future distributed and grid computing applications. The goal will be to develop compiler technology that supports high-level abstractations and programming language to access, retreive and process large-scale scientific datasets that are physically stored in compact low-level formats.
