Alum Gains DOE CAREER

Sriram Krishnamoorthy, (M.S., '06; Ph.D., '08) has received one of 61 Department of Energy CAREER Awards. This award is given to "support to exceptional researchers during the crucial early career years, when many scientists do their most formative work" and is regarded with comparable esteem to the NSF’ CAREER award. Dr. Krishnamoorthy will be receiving $2.5 million for his work into how parallel computing solves problems, assuring that the different pieces of the full calculation are working as efficiently as possible. After building the understanding of when and where certain approaches work best in different programs and platforms, he will test how they will perform on future extreme-scale computer systems. Krishnamoorthy is currently continuing his investigations at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. He is also an Adjunct Professor with Washington State University. During his time at CSE, he studied under Dr. P. Sadayappan in the Systems group. He received his B.E. at Anna University, Chennai, India.
