Best Paper Award

Congratulations to recent Ph.D. grad Dong Zhou and Professor Ten-Haing (Steve) Lai. Their paper "A Scalable and Adaptive Clock Synchronization Protocol in IEEE 802.11-Based Multihop Ad Hoc Networks" was named "Best Paper" category of Algorithms and Topology at The 2nd IEEE International Conference on Mobile Ad-hoc and Sensor Systems (MASS 2005). The "young" conference is sponsored by IEEE TC on Distributed Processing, IEEE TC on Simulation, IEEE Communications Society, DARPA, NSF and Army Research Office. The researchers participating in this conference are trying to solve the problems brought on by single hop networks (such as cellular and satellite systems) and their limitations. The focus of the work here is "the area of ad-hoc and sensor systems, covering topics ranging from physical issues to the applications aspects."
