782: Midterm Grading
- I'll be grading the midterm, not the grader.
- I give partial credit for answers - make sure you get the central idea down, then elaborate if you have time; the more you elaborate the more credit you get.
I.e., when I ask you to 'explain' something, I expect an explanation, not just a statement.
Use the point value of the question as a guide for how much to put down for the answer.
- I usually give long midterms - manage your time well. Don't get hung up on one question - make sure you get something down for each answer.
- If called on to work out some equations, I'm not concerned about correctly working out equations as much as setting everything up right.
- Bottom line: convince me you understand the concepts and ideas and can apply them.
