CSE 682
Winter 2012
Previous Announcements
Rick Parent
- I won't be in CL112D this afternoon, but I will be available via email. (Fri 2/10)
- All four groups will present progress reports on Monday (2/13), so each group has 25 minutes to present. Be prepared, be efficient, be organized.
If you go over your time limit, you will be cut off and you will lose points.
This represents your final plan for your project.
From here on out, changes to your plan should be the exception, although still possible.
(Tues. 2/7).
- Also on Monday, your web documentation will be graded.
(Tues. 2/7).
- Particle tests: rocket scene (ma) using particle system exhaust and a MEL script using particle expressions (Monday, 2/6)
- For the MEL script and expression tasks, you might use
read.mel
and
run.mel.
The first one will read in an expression text file of expression commands and put them in a MEL string variable.
The second one will then run it.
You can make these shelf buttons for convenience.
[thanks to Brian for suggesting this]
(Wed., 2/1; updated Sun., 2/5)
- All four groups will present progress reports on Wednesday, so each group has 25 minutes to present. Be prepared, be efficient, be organized.
If you go over your time limit, you will be cut off and you will lose points. (Sat. 12:33a).
- Remember that nothing is cast in concrete at this time - you are still developing the plan for your animation. (Fri., 1/20)
- Progress reports start on Wednesday, 1/25.
Refer here for the specifcation of what should be included in this first progress report. (Fri., 1/20)
- I need group names and pointers to your web sites for the groups - 2 groups have done this, 2 haven't. See Group Info, also linked to below(Fri., 1/20)
- Monday, we will meet in Koffolt 330 for the 3 remaining tech reports.
Each report should take about 30 minutes.
We need to keep with the time constraints to get all 3 presentations in on Monday. (Fri. 1/20)
- Monday is a holiday. We will meet this coming Wednesday (1/18) in Koffolt 330 for the Modeling and Lighting tech reports, followed by some discussion of Maya internal structure.
- Check the updated 'Current Group Info' at the link below. Let me know if something needs to be updated. (Wed. 1/11)
- I will not be around this Friday (1/13), but the grader for the course (Dii Cao) will be in CL112D Friday starting at 1:30. If you have questions about MAYA or the course, she should be able to help you. (Wed., 1/11)
- Rube Goldberg Machine page turner (Wed. 1/11)
- Wednesday, Jan. 11, the class will meet in KL330 for rough story boards, and then go to CL112D for Solar System demos
- Monday, Jan. 9, the class will meet in CL112D
- This year because of the way the quarter starts and the holiday falls, we really only have 9 weeks for this class. As a result, we need to get the project groups up and running as soon as possible. Groups will need to be finalized during the second class period, Mon., Jan 9th.
- Our class is scheduled in Koffolt Lab, so we'll probably meet often in CL112D (the back room in the CL112 computer lab) - but the first class on Wednesday, Jan. 4th will be in 330 Koffolt Lab (1:30p)
