Current Research and Projects

My main area of study is currently pedagogical methods for high quality software development, with a side focus on computer graphics and gaming. This ties in with the courses I typically teach - CSE 3541/5541 (Computer Game and Animation Techniques), CSE 3902 (Project: Design, Development, and Documentation of Interactive Systems), and CSE 5912 (Capstone Design: Game Design and Development). I am also currently looking for undergraduate students interested in working on projects involving data collection and analysis on commercial games (for evaluating games as well as determining additional areas of research), automating lighting of game environments, and alternative real-time illumination methods. The first project is programming language and development environment independent, but the work on illumination would be in C# using the Unity3D game engine.

Here are some severely dated screenshots from earlier work in OpenGL and Ogre3D on Distance Illumination - coloring or illuminating a scene according to distance to objects within it.
